The site is located in what is currently the Avon Street coach park on the river. The site was chosen for a number of reasons. Firstly, due to its location by the river, which gives optimal views out across the water. Secondly, it is close to a number of new developments including the Dyson School of Design Innovation directly across from it and the Bath Western Riverside Development just to the west, meaning it will be in the centre of a newly developed community in Bath. Thirdly, the site is large enough to accommodate the required accommodation for the building. Fourthly, the site is close to the town centre and has really good access from the A367 Green Park Road.

The Avon Street coach park used to be residential with the roads to the north cutting straight through and linking down the the river. It is on a prime spot in town and the land is too valuable to be used purely as a coach park, therefore the council are going to be moving it in the near future in any case, so the site is up for development.
